Wedding Champagne Glasses Card

I've been making mostly quick cards lately that I haven't been posting, but this week I wanted to play along with the CAS-ual Fridays challenge because I love making contrasting black and white cards. Plus, this combo was perfect for a wedding card I needed. My "extra" color was silver, although I also have a few gold sequins as well.

Elegant black white silver wedding card with die cut champagne glasses, bubbly sequins and Congratulations sentiment
To my amazement, I didn't use any stamps on this card - only die cuts and embellishments. The layered champagne glass die is from My Favorite Things and Congratulations sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp. The glasses are popped up with foam for extra dimension. I like the simple, but elegant look.
I'm also posting the card on the Simon Says blog for the Anything Goes challenge this week since I've used their products.

CAS Congratulations Card

This week I've made a CAS (clean and simple) card using CAS(e) This Sketch 157, colors from Color Throwdown #377 - yellow, kraft and grey and the Simon Says Congratulations set that I've been wanting to ink up for some time for Simon Says Anything Goes ChallengeTo make the card a little more fancy I used fine silver embossing powder instead of grey ink in the color scheme.

What Vacation?

Ever feel like you need a vacation after a vacation? The house is in a disarray, the chores are waiting, all the work work is piled up... What happened to that peace and relaxation? Despite being exhausted this past week, I'm still glad I managed a short ski getaway this year. New Mexico got some great snow and it was a first time the dogs came with and they were having a blast. Here's a photo from the slopes. Isn't it pretty?

Well, with so much on my plate a quick CAS challenge was a perfect way to knock out a card or two. Both of these are for CFC90 challenge to make a black & white plus one color card. I loved it! My first card is a wedding one, although I could probably use it for a birthday too. I cut off scalloped border from a die cut paper and then cut it into different length strips to make layers on the cake. A few Primas and pearls add a bit of a pop. No stamps on this card... Gasp!
Handmade clean and simple black and white card

The second card came together in minutes. I used black and white embossed patterned paper as a focal background and added yellow ribbon and embossed sentiment. It looks a bit like a stationary note, but I like it.

White Glamor - Wedding Gown Inspired Card

This card is for SCS Inspiration Challenge IC369 to make a card inspired by something on the Wedding  Bells site and I chose this picture of a wedding gown as my inspiration. I'm not big on yellow gold when it comes to my jewelry or even card making but in this case the touch of gold on the wedding dress caught my eye and I thought it'd be perfect to emboss a background stamp.

Handmade card, all white with shimmery carstock and embossing

The "skirt" of the card is vellum that I first sprayed with shimmer and then ran through embossing folder. It's hard to see from the picture but the sentiment on the tag is embossed with iridescent powder and the edges are embossed in gold. I didn't have any gold cardstock to layer on my tag so I improvised with the gold embossing by layering a smaller circle punch inside the tag and then running my Versamark pad along the exposed edge. Couldn't decide wither to add the swirls or not, but I may do a more clean variation on this later. Thanks for visiting.

Supplies (All supplies are Stampin'Up! unless otherwise noted) :

  • Ink: Versamark
  • Accessories: Ribbon from Michaels, Pearl Glimmer Mist, White Gold Martha Stewart Glitter (for swirls)

CAS Winter Design

I have a few more CAS cards for you that I made for the winter design challenge. Both take just 5 minutes and even though the lighting on my photos wasn't great, they look cute in hand. The first one is an engagement card based on the fantastic grid sketch from Susan, who has a very inspiring blog called Simplicity, dedicated to clean and simple cards. I had few ideas for this card, but finally settled on using Prima flowers instead of stamped images. To make the flowers stand out more against grey background, I set them on punched out 1" white circles. In the center of each flower is a small rhinestone. The sentiment is embossed with white diamonds EP. Corners are rounded for a softer look.

Supplies (All supplies are Stampin'Up! unless otherwise noted):
  • Stamps: Wonderful words
  • Paper: Basic grey, whisper white
  • Ink: Versamark and white diamond EP
  • Accessories: Prima flowers, rhinestones
  • Tools: 1" circle punch
This one is my winter wonderland card. It's a no layers card unless you count a thin strip of wrapping paper on the inside of the card that shows through under the punched border. The snowflakes are glittery rub-ons I had from last year and my new favorite ribbon with shimmering white on one side and shimmering brown on the other.

Weddings

Earlier this year I helped some friends design and make their wedding invitations and it was kind of funny to get this invite back a few months later. I hope they like how these turned out. After the initial design it actually didn't take that long to make. Between 5 people it took us about 5 hours to make roughly 80 invites and return cards. Here's one of them

Time flies.

Engagement Card

It's VSBN (Virtual Scrapbooking Night) weekend which I usually plan out weeks in advance, but this time I'll be lucky if I get a few hours tonight to catch up on a few challenges. If you like scrapbooking I encourage you to check it out - it's a lot of fun! Challenges will be posted through Sunday night and you have a few more days to get all the pages in. I'll join in just after I finish up a few cards.

So many of my friends are either getting married or having kids this year. I can hardly keep up with the number of baby, shower and wedding cards so I'm resolving to reusing some of the designs. This is a CASE of my own card from last year.

Dainty Bella, StampingBella, card, handmade, engagement, bridal shower, stamped, blue, Primas, Stickels, evelope, dry embossing, Stampin'Up!I love this Dainty Bella stamp and blue color scheme. The envolope is also hand-made. I collected a few different sqare envelopes over time, traced them onto a piece of cardboard to make the template more durable and then wheneven I want a custom colored envelope I use the templates. Vellum works especially well for adding dry embossing details.
