Wedding Champagne Glasses Card

I've been making mostly quick cards lately that I haven't been posting, but this week I wanted to play along with the CAS-ual Fridays challenge because I love making contrasting black and white cards. Plus, this combo was perfect for a wedding card I needed. My "extra" color was silver, although I also have a few gold sequins as well.

Elegant black white silver wedding card with die cut champagne glasses, bubbly sequins and Congratulations sentiment
To my amazement, I didn't use any stamps on this card - only die cuts and embellishments. The layered champagne glass die is from My Favorite Things and Congratulations sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp. The glasses are popped up with foam for extra dimension. I like the simple, but elegant look.
I'm also posting the card on the Simon Says blog for the Anything Goes challenge this week since I've used their products.

Playing along with CASology Chevron challenge today. This is a single layer card with a side cut-out and flowers peeking out from the inside of the card. I sponged the chevron background with MFT Lemon Drop ink and stamped flowers and sentiment with SU Melon Mambo for a bright summer combo.

Baby Card Pink Giraffe

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge this week was Animal Magic. I have a good selection of animal stamps to choose from, but needed a baby card for a friend's shower so went with this cute little giraffe.
Pink and brown baby card with giraffe image from SU Bundle of Joy set, Avery Elle Oh Happy Day and MFT Blueprints13 dienamics
This is a 2007 Stampin'Up! set called Bundle of Joy that I've used a lot over the years. The paper and buttons are also old SU that coordinated with the cardstock. The image and star diecuts were finished off with the clear Wink of Stella pen for a touch of whimsy.

Thanks for looking.

Make A Wish Embossed Card

I've had a lot going on the last few weeks and didn't have a chance to post, but I'm finally catching up and playing along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Make a Wish. I had this striking striped gold paper from DCWV Favor Boxes stack and was trying to figure out how to use it without hiding it behind layers of paper until it occurred to me to try and emboss it. I wasn't sure it it would hold up to the heat, but it worked just fine. I really like the contrasting effect and the combination of metallic and kraft.
Embossed Hero Arts Starbursts on gold striped paper DCWV DIY Favor Boxes
I had to take the picture at an angle to show the reflection, but in real life the flowers stand out well on both lines. I think the card is fitting for the challenge not just because of the sentiment, but it has a bit of dreamy, whimsy feel to it.

Thanks for looking.

Half Days and Happy Hours

Instead of a card this week I wanted to share a little notepad cover. The Bellarific challenge this week was to use paper piercing technique. Both of the dresses on the image are cut out from patterned paper. For some extra pizzas I added jewelry with liquid pearls and glasses are covered in Glossy Accents. I've accumulated a number of funny wine and drinking related stamps and this one from Unity seemed the most fitting here: "Life needs more half days and happy hours."

I initially made it as a gift, but then had to make another one so I could keep one myself :).

Birthday Elephant

I started out with green base cardstock  for the Simon Says Challenge - A Bit 'O Green, but somehow by the time it was finished, there was hardly any green on the card. I guess that's where the "bit" part comes in. The adorable stamp is called Bella with Balloons from Wild Rose Studio.  All the coloring was done with Copics and to add some texture I covered the balloons with Glossy Accents.

Uptown Girl Audrey, I Believe in Pink

This card is for the Bellarific Friday Flower Challenge. I colored the adorable Uptown Girl Audrey with Copics and added felt rose embellishments. Of course I also couldn't pass up adding some bling - the metallic washi tape and some silver highlights with the Gelly Roll pen. Love how this turned out.

The inside of the card is stamped with the Riley Funny Bones "I Love Pink" stamp. It's a different Audrey Hepburn quote than the one in the Stampingbella set and it's so fitting for this image.

A Tini Note Card

This is my CAS Single Layer Challenge from Simon Says Stamp using Paper Smooches Free Spirits set. It's a small 4x4 notecard. The glass was colored with Copics and covered with Glossy Accents for extra shine. I lightly sponged the center of the card and was going to call it done, but felt like it needed a little bit more pop so I added some metallic washi tape that I've been using a TON lately. It's a super quick way to add a bit of sparkle without foiling.

Seeing Gold Embossed Background

This card is using MFTSC266 sketch and part of the AI Challenge - Friendship.
I tend to favor silver and white gold hues over yellow gold, but like how this gold embossing turned out against the subtle pink background. I used the Large Dot Stencil and dabbed Versamark pad over to get the outline for embossing.

Flower Soft Bouquet

I'm playing along with Mojo Monday this week using MOJO433 sketch. I made these little flower branches probably a year ago and they've been sitting in my "find ways to use this later" stash until now. They're very easy to make - just cut a piece of wire to desired length, cover in tacky glue, roll in Flower Soft and let dry.

Spinner Card

Love how easy the AI Spinner stamps make creating perfect font and back cards. I colored the Fairy Spinner image with Copics and used paper piercing technique for her dress for the AI Challenge. A shimmering cord is affixed to the top and bottom of the card and allows the image to spin around.

MFT Frosty

This weekend was unseasonably warm here - sunny with temperature in the mid 80's. It was the perfect weather to be outside and I enjoyed every bit of it, but for some reason when I sat down to make a card for the MFT Sketch Challenge #265, the first stamp I reached for was the Frosty & Fabulous.  Maybe it's just to remind myself that it's still winter.

CAS Congratulations Card

This week I've made a CAS (clean and simple) card using CAS(e) This Sketch 157, colors from Color Throwdown #377 - yellow, kraft and grey and the Simon Says Congratulations set that I've been wanting to ink up for some time for Simon Says Anything Goes ChallengeTo make the card a little more fancy I used fine silver embossing powder instead of grey ink in the color scheme.

MFT Color Challenge 37- Start Every Day with Whee

I made another quick card this weekend. The color combo is from the MFT Color Challenge 37. I struggled a bit with this one, but the Pure Innocence Start Every Day with Whee stamp always lightens up a card.

Cute Critter Cards

I was able to make a couple of cards for challenges this weekend. The first card combines MFT Sketch 264, adorable color combo from Color Throwdown 376 and the dog from one of my favorite MFT stamps, You Make My Tail Wag, for the Simon Says Create with Critters Challenge. The inside of the card is stamped with sentiment "In dog years you're still a pup!" from Inky Antics.

Since I love animal stamps, I couldn't resist making another critter card for the Simon Says Create with Critters Challenge. This one is a simple hamster shaker card using the Lawn Fawn Wheelie Like You set.

Using Mini Prills on Cards

I recently bough a jar of Mini Prills because they reminded me of cupcake pearls, but haven't used them on a project until now. I've made cards with micorbeads before and prills are sort of similar. They're a little bigger and I think made of styrofoam.

Simon Says Stylish Simon Boston Terrier Card with Mimi Prills

The first card was for Simon Says Stamp Best Friends Challenge using Mojo430 sketch. I made a card with the cute Boston Terrier - Stylish Simon stamp and added a heart embellishment covered in Mini Prills. To do this, I liberally covered a die cut in Aleene's Tacky Glue, covered in prills, hand pressed and then let it dry under the weight of acrylic block to keep the cardstock from warping under the wet glue. It turned out pretty well without empty spots on the paper.

PTI Cupcake card with mini prills sprinkles

For the second card I put drops of Crystal Effects on a cupcake and used prills as sprinkles. Because they're so small, they clumped up a bit instead of looking like individual sprinkles. They seem to be holding pretty well when I'm just holding the card, but I think these are more likely to fall off in the mail.

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Simon Says Stylish Simon, PTI Cupcake Collection
  • Paper: BasicGrey Blush
  • Accessories: Mini Prills
  • Tools: MFT and Stitched Fishtail Stax

Flora and Her Bicycle Bella Card

I'm playing along in the Bellarific Friday this week. It's a photo inspiration and I used the colors in my card. The sketch is Viva la Verve January Sketch 2.

Flora and Her Bicycle Stampingbella Card based on Verve Sketch

I've used this stamp a lot since I cycle and have a lot of friends who do too. Our bikes are sans the flower basket, but close enough. The sentiment is a quote by Albert Einstein: "Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you must keep moving."

  • Stamps: Stamping Bella Uptown Girl Flora and Her Bicycle
